    A New Era of Protection

EE has introduced Scam Guard, a subscription service starting at just £1 a month, designed to protect users from a range of scams. With robust features such as spam and scam call labelling, dark web monitoring, and access to three months of free Cyber Security Duo, Scam Guard offers a comprehensive defense against fraud.

    The Growing Threat of Fraud

Research indicates that 40% of crimes in the UK are fraud-related. Scam Guard empowers consumers to stay ahead of scammers. EE’s commitment to customer protection is evident in its efforts to combat the millions of scam attempts that occur each year.

    Scam Guard Features

    • Spam and Scam Call Labelling: Utilizes Adaptive AI, powered by Hiya, to analyze calls in real-time and notify customers of suspicious activity.
    • Dark Web Monitoring: Alerts users if personal information, such as bank details and email logins, appear on the dark web, along with breach details and security tips.
    • Three Months Free Cyber Security Duo: Provides real-time protection for up to two devices against viruses, malware, and online threats. The service includes tools for stronger password creation and social media security, powered by Norton, which blocks nearly a quarter of a million attacks daily in the UK.

    The Impact of Fraud

Nearly all phone users (96%) regularly experience nuisance calls. A recent study by Hiya found that 16% of UK consumers lost money to phone scams in the past year, with an average loss of £632. Fraud affects all generations, emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance.

    EE’s Leadership in Scam Prevention

EE is at the forefront of the fight against scams, blocking around fifteen million suspicious calls and texts each month. In the first half of 2024 alone, EE blocked over 84 million scam attempts, doubling the number from the same period in 2023.

    Educating and Protecting Consumers

Scam Guard not only aims to protect but also educate users about online threats. According to Norton, 72% of UK adults do not understand the dark web, and 40% are unaware of dark web monitoring services. Scam Guard addresses this knowledge gap, helping users stay informed and secure.

    Commitment to Customer Safety

Helen Burrows, Policy Director for BT, stated, “We have always prioritized the protection of our customers and our investment in Scam Guard is something we are all incredibly proud of. We truly believe it will make a significant contribution to the prevention of scams and fraudsters.”

    Availability

Scam Guard is now available to all EE pay monthly mobile customers as an add-on. For more information, visit EE Scam Guard.
