Important Alert for Users of Highly Accurate ‘AI Death Calculator
Warning: Beware of Scams Claiming to Offer Life Expectancy Predictions
As reported by AFP
The AI Death Calculator and Scams
The team behind an ‘AI death calculator’ that can predict life expectancy and wealth have issued a stark warning regarding fraudulent apps and websites claiming to offer similar services. Danish researchers unveiled the Life2vec AI chatbot in December, claiming it accurately predicts how long individuals will live and their wealth. However, copycat apps have emerged online, posing as scams, while the original chatbot remains unreleased to the public.
Warning Against Scammers
The researchers caution that scammers have created fraudulent websites mimicking the chatbot, which are not associated with their work. The genuine software is private and stored at Statistics Denmark, inaccessible via the internet. They urge caution and advise against interacting with suspicious websites or apps.
Potential Risks of Fraudulent Websites
Fraudulent websites may attempt to steal sensitive data, including email addresses, phone numbers, or credit card details, or spread malware. The original researchers emphasize their lack of affiliation with any entities claiming to use their technology and warn against engaging with unauthorized sources.
About Life2vec
Life2vec was developed by scientists in Denmark and the US, utilizing data from Danish health and demographic records for six million individuals aged 35 to 65. The AI model, trained on this data, achieved an accuracy of 78% in predicting mortality. It factors in variables such as income, profession, medical history, and social life events to forecast life expectancy and wealth.
According to Sune Lehmann, a professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and lead author on the life2vec study, the AI can also predict various health outcomes, including fertility, obesity, and susceptibility to diseases like cancer, as well as financial success.
