Exploring the Exciting Features of iOS 17
So with iOS 7 finally here what new features does it bring to the iPhone and what iPhone’s can update to it?
Live Voicemail and FaceTime video messages
Live Voicemail transcribes a caller’s message in real-time, providing iPhone users with the choice to either disregard the call or answer it while the other person is still on the line and recording their message.
You can now leave video messages on FaceTime
In iOS 17, FaceTime gets even more fun and interactive! Now, if your friend doesn’t pick up your video call, you can leave them a video message.
But that’s not all! FaceTime calls are getting a whole lot more expressive too. You’ll be able to add some extra flair with reactions like hearts, balloons, fireworks, and more fun effects, all triggered by simple gestures. It’s going to make your FaceTime chats even more enjoyable!
Hey, Siri” is going to become simply “Siri.
Another friendly update to be aware of is the change from saying “Hey Siri” to simply “Siri” to activate Apple’s voice assistant. This alteration is aimed at making it feel more natural when you want to engage with Siri. What’s even more convenient is that Siri will become better at handling consecutive requests once activated.
For instance, instead of having to say: “Hey, Siri, what is the date?” and then, “Hey, Siri, when do the clocks go back” You should find it smoother to just say: “Siri, what is the date?” followed by “when do the clocks go back” It’s all about making your interactions with Siri more seamless and user-friendly!
The NameDrop feature makes sharing contact information easier than ever before!
The brand-new NameDrop feature introduced in iOS 17 makes it incredibly easy to swap contact information with a new friend. With this feature, iPhone users can simply bring their iPhones close to each other, just like when AirDropping, to effortlessly exchange names and Contact Posters.
One more exciting addition is the Contact Poster update, generating quite a buzz among iPhone users. This feature empowers iPhone users to create a custom image that appears when they make calls. This update allows users to choose their own caller ID photo, ensuring a consistent and personalized look for iPhone users, regardless of who they’re calling, as confirmed by Apple.
Furthermore, iPhone users will have the option to personalize their contact card “poster” with a photo or memoji of their choice. It’s all about adding that personal touch to your interactions!
Autocorrect is receiving a significant improvement that will help in preventing those unintentional “ducking” mistakes.
Apple is rolling out a comprehensive update for Autocorrect, introducing a state-of-the-art on-device machine learning language model known as a transformer language model. This advanced model is designed to significantly enhance word prediction.
The revamped Autocorrect system not only improves typing but also provides sentence-level autocorrections, capable of rectifying a wider range of grammatical errors. Additionally, iPhone users will now receive predictive text suggestions in real-time as they type, simplifying the process of inserting complete words or finishing sentences with just a tap of the space bar.
Furthermore, the new iOS keyboard will adapt to your typing habits over time. It will automatically correct words you frequently misspell while leaving intentionally typed words unchanged. As Craig Federighi, Apple’s head of software, humorously noted in June, “In those moments where you just want to type a ducking word, well, the keyboard will learn it, too.” This update aims to make the Autocorrect experience more intuitive and user-friendly.
It sounds like there are some exciting new features coming with iOS 17, including a new StandBy mode, a Journal app, and much more! These additions promise to enhance the user experience and offer new ways to interact with your iPhone.
iOS 17 brings some exciting additions, including StandBy, which offers a full-screen, glanceable experience when your iPhone is placed on its side while charging. Whether it’s on your nightstand or desk, you can customize the display with a clock, favorite photos, or frequently used widgets, making it convenient and visually appealing.
In addition, Apple is introducing a new Journal app, set to be available through a software update later this year. This app is designed to assist users in cultivating reflection and gratitude through daily journaling practices. It’s another exciting feature aimed at enhancing the user’s well-being and productivity.
