Virgin Media O2 Business Collaborates with ONS to Provide Data Insights

Virgin Media O2 Business has partnered with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to offer anonymised data concerning population dynamics, travel patterns, and other movement trends.
Insights derived from Virgin Media O2 Business’ anonymised and aggregated data service, O2 Motion, will be accessible on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) managed by the ONS. This platform is available to accredited researchers who study various topics like public health, regional growth, jobs, and skills.
O2 Motion data will be harmonised with ONS surveys and administrative data sources, benefiting policymakers, researchers, and the wider public.
The data provided by O2 Motion will be refreshed on a weekly basis, facilitating real-time analysis.
Geoff Wappett, Head of AI and Data Insights at Virgin Media O2 Business, expressed the significance of this collaboration, stating: “Leveraging billions of daily network events, our mobile data will offer governmental organisations and officials reliable information, enabling informed, data-driven decision-making processes.”
