The recently launched EE TV platform in the UK is making quite a splash with its tailored Apple TV 4K integration! This groundbreaking offering provides access to a wealth of entertainment options, including more than 70 Freeview channels, a Netflix subscription, and premium channels from renowned providers such as Sky, Discovery, Eurosport, and TNT Sports, among others.
Subscribers have a variety of options to access this platform. They can choose between a standard “mini” box, a “pro” box equipped with a hard drive for live TV recording, or, in a pioneering move termed a “UK-first” by EE, a specially customized Apple TV 4K. Remarkably, all these options are available at the same cost.
Developed in collaboration with Apple, the custom Apple TV 4K boasts the EE TV app preinstalled. This feature-rich app offers both live streaming and on-demand content, along with swift access to live channels and third-party apps like BBC iPlayer. Additionally, it provides a unified search function, making it effortless to discover content across multiple platforms. Moreover, the Apple TV includes a specially designed EE-branded remote, complete with a TV guide button and channel rockers, enhancing the user experience.
While the EE TV boxes serve as a central hub for live broadcast TV, access to UK catch-up and on-demand apps, and the option to purchase or rent content, they do lack the access to additional services typically provided by Apple TV. However, newcomers to EE TV are in for a treat, as they are eligible for six months of Apple TV+ for free.
All 24-month contracts feature a lineup of live free-to-air channels and catch-up services. The platform also offers an array of supplementary services and premium channel packages, priced between £4.99 and £76. Customers have the flexibility to add or remove packages on a monthly basis. EE sweetens the deal by providing subscribers with a complimentary EE TV Box Mini for “free multi-room TV.” This customizable and feature-packed platform truly redefines the home entertainment experience for EE subscribers in the UK!
