What’s the Digital Wallet? 📲
The GOV.UK digital wallet will store official documents securely on your smartphone. Alongside the digital driver’s license, it will also include:
- Veterans Cards 🎖️
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks 🔎
- Other government-issued credentials (coming by 2027) 📜
Is It Secure? 🔒
Yes! The digital wallet will use facial recognition to unlock your documents, making it safer even if your phone gets lost. You can also hide personal details (like your home address) when needed. 🕵️♂️
Is It Mandatory? 🤔
Nope! This is an opt-in service. If you prefer sticking with a physical license, you can still do that! But for those who like convenience, the digital option will be available soon. 😊
Other Countries Already Use This Tech 🌍
