Spotify’s iOS app hinted at the potential return of in-app payments, yet the company has clarified that there are no intentions to reinstate this feature.
Farshad Shadloo, Spotify’s global head of corporate and policy communications, told The Verge, “We have no plans to switch IAP [in-app payments] on at the moment.”
The music streaming giant had removed this capability back in 2016 to sidestep Apple’s substantial up to 30 percent commission on digital in-app purchases. Earlier this year, Spotify also migrated its previous subscribers away from this payment method.
