iPhone Users Are Now Discovering Hidden Features in FaceTime Through ‘Secret Hand Signals

It’s a new trick called Reactions that is available on FaceTime video calls.
They’re animated effects that will only appear if you do the right hand symbol.
For instance, you could send a flurry of hearts or a floating thumbs-up symbol.
Once you work out how to do them, you’ll be able to activate them at a moment’s notice.
To begin, ensure that you have iOS 17 installed on your device.
iOS 17 is the latest update from Apple and is exclusively compatible with newer iPhone models.
If you’ve purchased an iPhone in the past few years, you should meet the requirements.
To verify its installation or to download it, simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone.
To explore Reactions during a FaceTime video call, follow these steps:
- Ensure your iPhone is positioned at a distance where the camera can clearly capture your hand gestures.
- Launch a video call within the FaceTime app.
- Select one of the eight available Reactions to experiment with, here’s the list:
- Hearts: Form a heart shape using both hands side by side.
- Balloons: Show a peace sign with your fingers in a V shape.
- Thumbs Up: Simply raise your thumb in an upward position.
- Thumbs Down: Hold your thumb in a downward position.
- Rain: Keep both thumbs down.
- Confetti: Create two peace signs with your fingers.
- Fireworks: Raise both thumbs up.
- Lasers: Make devil-horn signs with both hands.
- For symbols that require two hands, make sure your iPhone is positioned to capture both of your hands clearly.
- Be patient, as some symbols may take a second or two to activate.
- If you encounter difficulties making a reaction happen, try moving to a location with better lighting.
Enjoy trying out these fun Reactions during your FaceTime calls!
