Efficiency Boost for Policing Through 5G SA
The national deployment of a 5G Standalone (SA) network promises to revolutionize police efficiency across the UK, saving officers 11 million collective hours per year. According to Vodafone UK’s new modelling, this efficiency gain could equate to freeing up 5,400 full-time officers for frontline duties.
On an individual level, officers could save up to seven working days annually, or 17 minutes per day, potentially enabling one additional emergency response daily. These improvements align with Labour’s commitment to strengthening community policing and rebuilding safety nationwide.
Key Investment in UK Connectivity
The nationwide 5G rollout, a cornerstone of Labour’s pledge, is supported by the proposed Vodafone-Three UK merger, which plans to invest £11bn in infrastructure. This investment aims to bring 5G SA to:
- 95% of the UK population by 2030.
- 99% by 2034.
